Albert Mott Obituary, taken from the Barber County Index, Medicine Lodge,Kansas
Albert B. Mott, son of Edward B. Mott and Clarinda Eggleston, was born inPratt, Kansas October 11, 1886 and departed this life at Medicine LodgeJuly 11, 1968 at the age of 81 years, 9 months. He grew to manhood on afarm two miles west of Iuka, Kansas. When he was 21 years old, he filedon a claim in western Kansas, where he lived for 27 years.In 1921, he wasunited in marriage to Della Pore and to this union 8 children were born,all of whom survive.They are two sons, Edward B. of Dayville, Oregon, andJack R. of Medicine Lodge; six daughters, Mrs. Naomi Grantham of MedicineLodge,Mr. Genevieve Crowell of Perrysburg,Ohio Mrs. Daisy Douthett ofAugusta, Kansas, Mrs Winnie Babb of Long Island, New York, and JoanHansen and Mrs. Della Boyd of Albuquerque, New Mexico. He leaves 35grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.Mr. Mott moved to Barber Countyin 1936 and bought a farm 6 miles north of Medicine Lodge, where heresided at the time of his death.
family facts told by Genevieve Mott Crowell In 1910, before her father(Albert Mott) was married, he filed a homestead claim in Stanton Co., inKansas. It was free range cattle country. He wasn't looked on with greatfavor, but they liked him anyway, in spite of him being a homesteader. Hewas the fore runner of the homesteaders
Albert Mott bought the first combine in Stanton Co., Kansas pulled by 8horses. Later converted to be pulled by tractor.
