J.M. BRYANT IS DEAD
Funeral Monday for Former Coffeyville Farmer Who Succumbed atIndependence Yesterday. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30o'clock Monday afternoon atthe Skinner Funeral home for Joseph M. Bryant,80, former Coffeyville farmer who died at 2:10 o'clock yesterdayafternoon in his home, 501South Seventeenth street, Independence,following an extended illness.The services will be conducted by the Rev.Joseph D. Boyd, pastor of the First Christian Church, and burial will bein Elmwood cemetery. Pallbearers, grandsons of Mr. Bryant, will beLawrence and Lee Bryant of Coffeyville, Loren Keller of Tulsa, HaroldAllgood of Independence, Ray Kerr of Watova, Okla., and Claude Bartmessof Oklahoma City. Mr. Bryant's body was removed to the funeral home herelate yesterday. Mr. Bryant, a native of Butler, Mo., came to thisvicinity about forty-eight years ago, and for several years the familylived three miles southwest of Coffeyville on the Kansas side of thestate line. Later Mr. and Mrs. Bryant moved into Coffeyville, althoughMr. Bryant continued farming in this vicinity for some time. The Bryantsmoved to
Independence last March. Besides his wife, Mrs. Rachel A. Bryant, Mr.Bryant is survived by two sons, Henry Bryant, northwest of Coffeyville,and Abner Bryant, south of Coffeyville in Oklahoma; three daughters, Mrs.J.H. Bartmess of Talala, Okla., Mrs. A.B. Allgood of rural Independenceand Mrs. E.A. Martin, Route 4, Coffeyville; a sister, Mrs. LucindaEubanks of Corpus Christi, Tex., and a stepson, John Wilson ofIndependence.
