[26] During Civil War, Leroy Luker served as Sgt in Co B, 1st MS Partisan Rangers (changed to Co B, 7th MS Cav) along with his son, James Robert, and also nephew, George M. Luker. During the battle at Collierville, TN on Memphis and Charleston Rd. Leroy carried his wounded nephew from the battlefield.

An interesting story concerning Silas Lee Young is that he poisoned hisfirst wife, Martha Catherine. He was not convicted, however, and marriedViola Hall (a sweet young thing) who was a boarder in his home. She onlylived a couple of years and then she died. Later he married Belle Smith,who outlived him (lucky for her!)
