Obituary for Leander Bud) Pore in the Pratt, Kansas newspaper
Leander Pore was born in Adams County, Iowa, April 3, 1853 and died Nov.1., 1925, at the local hospital, being 72 years, five months andtwenty-nine days of age.Mr. Pore came to Kansas with his parents when asmall boy and grew to manhood at Cedarvale. He leaves four brothers,Thomas of Cedarvale, Eli, John, and William of McAllen Texas. Twosisters, Mrs. S.A. Thurston of Dewey, Okla., and Mrs. W.J. Witt,Springfield, Colo., survive. Mr. Pore was united in marriage with MissMary Frances Pender February 29, 1879 at Cedarvale, Kansas. To Mr. andMrs Pore were born seven children of whom three survive. They areH.H.Horney ,Miss Rena Pore both of Pratt, and Mrs. A.B. Mott of JohnsonCity , Kans. There are nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.Mr. Pore was a loving father and a good neighbor and ever ready to helpthose in need. He spent the last five years in California, but afterlosing his health, he decided to spend the last days in Pratt with hischildren, having been in failing health for the past five months. Funeralservices were held Tuesday afternoon at 3:30, conducted by Rev. T.R.Johnson of the First Baptist church. Interment was in the local cemetery.J.K. Sappington in charge.
