My grandfather bought the marriage license in Bartlesville, WashingtonCo., OK and he and my grandmother drove to Tulsa to get married, notknowing the license was no good in Tulsa Co. Grandaddy left Grandmotheron the steps at the preacher's house to go get another license. Seems totook him much longer than Grandmother thought and she was not happy. Inever knew this story until my sister, Jerri Lee, and I came across therecord saying the license in Washington Co., had not been returned. JerriLee was familiar with the story and related it to me. August 6, 1999
