Heritage of Lafayette Co MI- LDS 976.283 -F300 - Joseph was accorded
recognition as a Patriot for services rendered to Revolutionary forces, taking
charge of public wagons. He was a member of the Constitutional Convention of
1798 from Jackson County, Georgia, and was a Captain of "Gum Log Company" -
Franklin County regiment of Militia in the 1790's.
From Ola Humphries (squeely@aol.com) - Joseph was a Captain in the Rev. War.
He appears in the DAR rolls. He is also listed in the Georgia's Roster of the
Amer. Rev. by L.L.Knight, as noted in Mary F. A. Word's book "John Bryson Word.
" Knight's Roster of the Rev. War shows that Joseph Humphries received a
grant for his service, on Big Shoal Creek in Franklin/Jackson Co., GA in 1784.
He migrated to Franklin and Jackson Counties GA afer the Rev War. He became
active in land; he was a Justice of the Peace in Jackson Co and witnessed many
deed transters. Also, land that he and Rebeccah owned was bought and sold
several times, as shown by both names on the deed records. Hisw name appears
on the tax lists of 1802 and 1808 for Franklin Co., Ga. He was a delegate to
the 1798 Gerogia Convention representing Jackson Co. , where he voted to adopt
the new State Convention. According to a study of this family by Carl
Humphreys of Lubbock Tx (806-795-7051) he was a captain of the 'Gun Log
Company', a Franklin County Regiment of Militia in the 1790's.

William Tignor, Sr. is found in Lancaster County on several court records. He married Mabell and at least one child was born to this marriage. He died in Middlesex Co. Virginia where his will was probated.
